HIS artworks grace the homes of Kim Kardashian West, Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant and the corporate boardrooms of Vogue - now Toowoomba artist Shane Bowden has signed a new deal which he says makes him one of Australia's highest paid living artists.

The former Toowoomba Grammar School student signed an estimated $20 million deal with New York Gallery Group to expand his gallery exhibitions to Japan and Singapore.

The visual artist, who is now based in California, has become a household name in Asia, Europe and the United States.

Art was once a creative outlet for the 42-year-old who has sold more than 8000 original works in the past year.

"Work is my therapy and drive," he said.

The Archibald finalist is famous for "synoptic flashing juxtapositions of silk screened imagery" that evoke the graphic schemes of the sixties.

According to his website, Mr Bowden's collage techniques, unexpected material contrasts, deliberately untidy contours and lavish paint smears bridge the gap between action painting and pop art.

"I don't know anybody who loves painting and art as much as I do; it gives me such pleasure with massive highs and lows," he said.

"I truly feel alive."

The estimated $20 million deal comes off the back of Mr Bowden's four new gallery spaces in Tokyo, Osaka, Singapore and La Jolla, California.

He is currently working on a development reality series and has exhibitions planned for Tokyo, Barcelona, Berlin and New York.

Mr Bowden lives in San Diego with wife Johnna and their two children. There he runs a studio, warehouse and production facility.
