IPSWICH'S pubs, clubs and fundraisers have gone to great lengths to entice tipsters through their doors on the first Tuesday of November, with a wide variety of entertainment planned for Melbourne Cup Day.

Although there are no races planned at the Bundamba Racecourse on the day, the Ipswich Turf Club is planning a huge buffet luncheon, with money raised from sweeps and raffles on the day donated to Ipswich Hospice Care and Ipswich speech and hearing impaired children.

Stumps Hotel at the Top of Town has a huge Melbourne Cup Day program, as does the Yamanto Tavern.

 Racehorse Hotel: Melbourne Cup lunch at $49 a head. Sweeps.

 PA Hotel: Sweeps and losing ticket draws in the Shaft Bar.

 Jets Leagues Club: $65 entry, bookings essential. Fashion parade.

 Brothers Leagues Club: Live entertainment from 11am. Lunch.
