UPDATE: RICKY Ponting has said goodbye to the limited over arena after admitting he is not expecting to be picked for "ODI cricket anymore".

>> Latest sport news

The dual World Cup-winning captain said he will now focus all his energy on the Australian Test team and domestic duties.

"I will continue playing Test cricket and cricket for Tasmania as well," Ponting said.

"I think I've proven to everyone and myself I'm still capable of dominating after my form in the series against India and I'm looking forward to playing the last few shield games for Tasmania."

Ponting has endured a miserable summer with the bat for the Australian one-day side, averaging a paltry four runs per innings.

And despite leading his nation to victory over India in what is now his farewell match in Brisbane, Ponting knew his form did not warrant a spot in future line-ups.

"I don't expect to play ODI cricket anymore and I wouldn't expect to be picked," he said.
