Film star recipes sure to entice your tastebuds

IT won't be on shelves for another four months, but Gwyneth Paltrow's latest cookbook, It's All Good: Delicious, Easy Recipes That Will Make You Look Good and Feel Great, is already a hit, with pre-orders on Amazon pouring in.

The book, Paltrow's second, features recipes 'for the foods she eats when she wants to lose weight, look good, and feel more energetic', according to the description on Amazon.

The book was born after a visit to her doctor revealed Paltrow was anaemic, vitamin D deficient, and that her stress levels were through the roof.

She was prescribed an elimination diet which got rid of all the baddies like coffee, alcohol, sugar, eggs, wheat, meat and processed food.

Well known for her love of food and cooking, Paltrow said she was worried that all these restrictions would make mealtimes boring and repetitive, so she set about creating a collection of recipes that adhered to the strict dietary guidelines, but still tasted great.

The book includes recipes such as salmon burgers with pickled ginger, and chocolate brownies with banana ice cream.

The book is out April 2013. Pre-order at

Eva's Kitchen: Cooking with Love for Family and Friends

The Desperate Housewives' star grew up on a ranch so this cookbook is full of home-style cooking from her childhood, as well as a few fancy dishes she picked up along the way.

For us Aussies who may not be familiar with anything more Mexican than tacos or nachos, Eva's recipes and family stories are a great insight into the cuisine of her heritage.

And the personal stories that go with many of the recipes are fantastic as well. Definitely makes our best list.

The Dead Celebrity Cookbook: A Resurrection of Recipes by 150 Stars of Stage and Screen

This might even be our number one, best celeb cookbook.

Fancy feasting on Frank Sinatra's Barbecued Lamb? Or diving into a plate of Joan Crawford's Poached Salmon? How about a serve of Rock Hudson's cannoli?

Frank DeCaro, best known as the movie critic on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, has collected hundreds of recipes passed on from legendary stars of stage and screen, proving that before there were celebrity chefs, there were celebrities who fancied themselves chefs.

Their all-but-forgotten recipes-rescued from out-of-print cookbooks, musty biographies, vintage magazines, and dusty pamphlets include Elizabeth Taylor's Chicken with Avocado and Mushrooms, Liberace's Sticky Buns, Bette Davis's Red Flannel Hash, Andy Warhol's Ghoulish Goulash, Johnny Cash's Old Iron Pot Family-Style Chilli and many, many more.

The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet

And the worst? Well there's plenty choose from but Alicia Silverstone's cookbook is perfect for anyone who likes their recipes with a dash of self-righteousness and a smidge of stating-the-bleeding- obvious.

Here, Alicia shares her insights on cooking rice: "Wash rice. Soak rice. Put rice in pot. Add water. Boil on high heat. Cover. Turn the heat down. Simmer, remove and serve warm."

Ground-breaking stuff. Still, we shouldn't scoff, because according to Silverstone, "by following the Kind Diet, you will become more sensitive to all the important things in life - like love, nature, and your deepest, truest self."

And you'll know how to cook rice.
