EACH one of them has their own story.

More than 100 people have united so far in the Shortiez Team World's Greatest Shave team.

And it has been less than a week since the group started.

On Tuesday Nanango women Cath Kenny and Donna Moore decided to make a difference.

The pair urges locals to get involved by donating or registering to shave or dye their hair.

Mrs Kenny, who will be colouring her hair, said the massive response from the townspeople and businesses in the first few days had been "heart-warming".

"It is amazing to be quite honest," she said.

"Already the team has brought out the good in so many people.

"We all have our own personal stories to tell and a lot of people have been affected by leukemia."

The World's Greatest Shave weekend will begin on Thursday, March 14 and ends on Sunday, March 17.

People can sign up to pledge to fundraise as much as they can to eventually shave their head or dye their hair on the weekend.

Mrs Moore will shave her head in March, and she is already off to a big start.

"So far I have been able to raise $1000," she said.

"I am aiming for $10,000 and my husband is aiming for $10,000 too."

The two friends made the decision to start the fundraiser after family members battled the disease.

"I lost my uncle just this Monday and when I woke up on Tuesday I was different," Mrs Kenny said.

"I knew what I had to do and we won't stop campaigning."

Mrs Moore said she was campaigning for her mother, Jill.

"She passed away last year after a 13-year battle," Mrs Moore said.

"We're just standard people but we will continue to keep believing we can make a difference, and so can you."

If you want to register, go to worldsgreatestshave.com and search for "Team Shortiez" or grab a form from CFC Shortiez in Nanango.
