Ipswich covergirl snaps winning image

A DEEBING Heights-based budding photographer has won the inaugural Capture the Cover competition and will have her photograph featured on the cover of the new Ipswich Yellow Pages.

Lisa Roper's shot of a spider web illuminated by sunlight will feature alongside nine runner-up photographs taken by locals.

The new Ipswich Yellow Pages started distribution on Saturday.

Capture the Cover judge, photographer Greg Wilson, said the images he chose to represent the Ipswich region reflected its charming rural nature.

"This cover has a real country theme to it, which wasn't intentional. It is just that a lot of the entries celebrated the rural flavour of the Ipswich area," he said.

"These photos communicate what the region is all about and how it is so different to big Brisbane city."

Ms Roper said she was excited to win, having been trying to break into photography for some time.

"The photo was taken on a bushwalk. I shot it with the sun behind to get the light on the web. It was a really lucky shot - lucky I didn't walk into it," she said.
